Exodus is a book of freedom, struggle, and the sustaining power of God. It describes God’s sovereignty over and judgment of the idols of Egypt, God’s miracle deliverance of Israel in parting the Red Sea, His provision for Israel throughout their wilderness wanderings, and His gracious patience with Israel despite their unbelief and constant grumbling.
The book moves from Israel’s persecution in Egypt at the hands of Pharaoh to their deliverance from Egypt through the faithfulness of God and their journey toward the Promised Land. The book illuminates the faithfulness of God in keeping His promises and His covenant.
